Bad mood beverage

Background: I'm in charge of selling my parents' house now that my Dad has moved to a retirement community.

I thought the real estate agent was going to meet the carpet installers at the house this morning, but she didn't. I ended up having to rush over there to sign a paper saying yes, the carpet they brought was the correct color, and I had shown them where to install it. Then I came home. I have to go back over there in a few hours, and after that I'm taking my Dad to my mother-out-law's birthday dinner.

About half an hour after I got home continuous loud jackhammering started at a house nearby. I had to close the windows. Now it is only annoying and not deafening and stressing the cats to pieces.

Closing the windows made the house humid.

So I decided to make myself some iced coffee. We don't actually have real ice, we have colorful fruit-shaped bits of plastic with water in them that we freeze. So here's my bad mood beverage, served in my bad mood coffee mug.

Poor mom and kid! I hope she likes it better than she expects to.

It's a miserable time of life. Kids should be able to be put to sleep for three years to skip it.

My middle school experience did not suck, despite my dad going around announcing that "seventh-graders are the lowest form of human life." (He meant well. Well, he meant funny, at least.)

So it's possible!

I've been on Those Other Social Platforms for just long enough to be looking for a like button. Ahem.

So this is a great idea. I wish I could have dreamed my way through it fer shur.

That looks festive even if it is for a bad mood.

Let's all party until we bite each other's heads off!

I'm down! That drink looks downright scary! In a very cool way, of course.

Adorable fruit and veggies with bonus cat paw!

I hope things smooth out on the house matters.

Dinner was fun. Driving Dad home after dinner, we encountered a bad accident that had collected six police cars, two fire engines, one fire van, two ambulances, and a partridge in a pear tree. That part wasn't so great. But it's all right now...

Jesus christ on a crutch. Somebody was having a MUCH worse day than you. (That's what I think of when I see something like that.)

I'm glad dinner was fun and that you weren't in the accident.

That's for sure. I said to Dad, "some emergency room is going to have its hands full tonight."

And certainly my bad day didn't even amount to "first world problems," maybe "1/4th world problems."

Oh dear. I should have labeled that "sarcastic dark humor." I didn't mean that you should compare your problems to those of the rest of the world all the time. (I know you tend to do that.)

When you have problems, they are valid, real problems and you are allowed to feel whatever you feel about them. It's your life we're talking about, not some theoretical construct.

"Somebody is having a worse day than me" is more of a "Jewish dark humor" thing I say to myself. It's not meant to trivialize anybody's problems, including mine.

It's OK! I didn't feel like you were trivializing my problems. "1/4th world problems" is part of my own humor.

That's bizarre looking! I keep interpreting it as some sort of chowder.
