"Well, I'd showered and was lounging in my Big Dogs boxers, and then the OH said he wanted to go out to dinner, and I didn't want to go to the trouble of putting on pants and a shirt."

Yup! I have several easy on dresses for that very reason. Though, I'm not sure I identify as butch. Or femme.

I don't consider myself butch, but I'm not quite "neither" either. I guess I'm !femme. But I call my gender-style ID "butch kitty" because, well, it just makes sense for me. Dresses extremely rarely, fuzzy scarves often.

Note, I told the OH about what you wrote above and he said "Of course, Betsy's a geek." (We think there are at least three gender presentations: butch, femme, and geek.)

I like all three. What an aesthetic slut I am. :)

One of my many taglines has been "not butch, not femme, just a weirdo". So there's another one for your files ... :-)

Personally, the last dress I wore was as a bridesmaid 20 years ago, and I intend it to stay that way, but realistically, at the same time I know that there's not really much difference between some short dresses and some of my longer t-shirts.

Would wearing bicycle shorts under a dress count as semi-butch? ;)

And I may have to look into some comfy pairs of boxers as an alternate approach to something to wear under a dress when I don't want to wear hose of some nature. The Spandex can be a bit warm and restricting, but my thighs rubbed together when I was 60 pounds thinner.

I think bicycle shorts count, yeah.

Cute name, btw!

that made me giggle
my take on dresses is that they're more comfortable for me, having put on 25 lbs. after quitting smoking.
i also think it's somewhat deceptive...people don't expect a smartass in a dress.
(hope you and the OH have a great holiday)

My friend Roxanne (who says she sometimes reads LJ - hi if you're reading!) uses this assumption to great effect.
