NaNoWriMo Progress Meter

Originally when I started writing, I gave myself a goal of 2K words a day. If I kept to it, I would finish in 25 days instead of 30. I've already mostly eaten up the 5 days of slack. I need to write an average of almost 1800 words a day to finish on time.

That's OK, though.

I discovered some cool stuff doing research via Google for the novel: Japanese puzzle boxes

You are doing very well. You have about 9,000 words more than I do. :)

/me tries not to panic

Last count was something like 3,935, and I counted a quote at the beginning. I suck. *weeps*

I'm really trying to avoid the "I suck" mentality. But it's hard.

The NaNo boards help. *nod* I lurk, but it's nice to read some of the posts.

I've stayed away from the NaNo boards because I'm afraid they'll eat my writing time...

Ah HA!

I asked on one of the forums, at the beginning, if it was kosher to Google. No one answered, so I've just been doing it.

It makes me feel better to know that you are, too.

Hey, research is okay, right? As long as you're not typing the results verbatim into your novel. (Heh, I can see it. "The word IT," the novel continued, "is common and was not included in your search.")

I can't imagine writing 50,000 words about anything without doing research.

Neither can I. I may... just possibly... know 50,000 words' worth of something. But I'd get awfully bored writing it.

(Google to the rescue again this evening, in fact. Apparently my main character's husband is a model railroad enthusiast. I needed magazine titles, jargon...)
