I finished a scarf!

It's knitted out of four different yarns: shetland wool, kid mohair, tussah silk/wool (all hand dyed) and recycled silk. Each row is a separate piece of yarn that's tied to the previous row (this forms the fringe). I got the yarns at the Mendocino County Wool and Fiber Festival in September.

Instructions for the scarf are in The Knitting Experience: Book 1 The Knit Stitch. As a beginning knitter, I like this book's instructional design a lot and I think a lot of the projects are really attractive looking (but large sizes for the clothing projects aren't given, phooey). The only thing I could do without is the author's blathering on about how knitting is spiritual and meditative and will "change your life." I do understand what she's saying but...can't people just have hobbies any more?

Here it's sitting on the cat condo next to my computer.

The OH took some pictures of it on me. Here's one of the tame ones. :-)

When I meditated for more than a day or two, I found myself feeling inexplicably joyful at random times during the day.

I think we did discuss Goleman. I really recommend that book.

It's possible to sew beads onto yarn. You can also weave with beads and thread or yarn. Have you seen those little "Indian Bead Looms"?

Oh that is very good, and so why do you say that you may want to do this more? I intuit more, and that is an edgy place to be.

Yes. Heavy into to history at the moment. I have applied at work for funding for a master's program that will be for a degree in public sector admin. Gov'n. *hug* I don't want to lose the other but I am feeling that I need to be active in the world also. It's been a very long time since I was in school. I am trying to prep. I drone and digress here. ;-)

I do want to remember to read the Goleman tho.

I haven't seen those "little Indian Bead Looms?"

I want to meditate more 'cos I like the random joyful feelings. By nature, I'm fairly, um, what's the word for not feeling a whole lot of anything.

Good luck with school! It's a very important field.

Here is a little bead loom.

Thank you, and thank you. And I will need it. The luck, and then some.

There's more than one word for that, I would think, depending.

What're your Con plans this year?

I'm planning to go to Potlatch (http://www.potlatch-sf.org/) at the beginning of March in San Francisco. I have a membership to Wiscon but I probably won't be able to work up the enthusiasm to travel. I'll be going to alt.polycon in San Diego in the fall.
