For new DVDs we want to buy, we generally check CostCo first (since we have a membership)

Seconded. The DVD aisle at Costco is a lovely, dangerous place.

I usually go to chapters.ca first and if they don't have it, fall back to amazon.ca. As to why, um... because I'm not sure what any other reputable options are. ;)

Me, too. They are very fast, and I like the free shipping.

Personally, even if something has just been out a matter of days I would still check eBay and half.com and compare them against what Amazon's discounting it at.

Amazon. Because I sold them my soul a long time ago.

Costco or Amazon for me also, if I have to have it *right now*. If I can wait for a month or so, the local video store that I rent from often sells off their extra copies for $5 - $10 once the demand dies down.
