I just responded to an offer from audible.com to get a free 2 GB iPod Nano by upgrading to audible platinum. I already had an audible platinum subscription and I was planning to renew it anyway, but I was waiting until my original subscription ran out; I didn't know you could renew with a subscription still running.

The scary thing was that it charged my credit card on file immediately after I clicked the "Get Started" button. I was pretty much expecting either to be asked to confirm my order, or to be told I wasn't eligible because I already had the relevant membership. No reminder to enter my password, nothing.

So, here's a heads-up and a warning. (You can get a 1 GB Nano by subscribing to Gold for 12 months, and a Shuffle by subscribing to Gold for 6 months.)

When I go to the audible.com homepage on a browser with no login cookie, I see an offer at the bottom right of the page that says "The Great iPod Giveaway".

I can get a referral credit if you sign up for a gold or platinum membership. My username is sjones194, I don't know whether you need any other info to process the referral. Or if you email me from your preferred email address, I'll send you an invitation.

I'll have to ponder this. Do they state a time limit?

It seems to be a "supplies are limited" kind of thing. Today the page says that the 2GB model is already sold out, but the shuffle and 1GB model are still available.
