I just got the brochure for Stitches West in February this afternoon. Class registration doesn't even open until October 6, but the hotel attached to the convention center is already sold out.

I might still take a class or two, but so much for my making a vacation out of it. I'm not interested in going to an event that's so crowded the hotel is sold out before the event is announced. (Wiscon doesn't count, besides, they send out notices when the hotel is about to sell out.)

Sadly, that doesn't surprise me, not after the mess that was Sock Summit--which featured people booking hotels and flights months before registration opened and then getting butthurt on Ravelry when they weren't able to get into any classes. In their slight defense, the server crashed hard when registration opened so there was some confusion over class availability, but the butthurt was still epic.

Is there just one hotel for Stitches West? They have 3 for Stitches East. And, actually, there are more than that, because when I called the Hilton which was sold out for some of the nights, they told me I could get the Stitches Rate at the Hilton Garden Inn which is actually closer to the Hartford Convention Center. I think they had four or 5 hotels last year in Baltimore.

They have more than one, but my mobility issues and the parking situation at the convention center are such that I would need to stay in the one connected to the convention center in order to enjoy it.
