This week is Dreamwidth open account creation week. From now until 28 February, creating an account won't require an invite code.

Did they offer the reasoning behind it still requiring an invite code in the first place?

Okay, but I don't even know how to do a search. I looked through the FAQ and couldn't find anything other than how to search on interests.

You can search on email address or username in the drop down menu at the top of your journal page. (To search on username, use the "site and account" option.)
